The Aqaba Museum is housed in the house of Sharif Hussein bin Ali, built in the early 20th century beside Aqaba Fort. It displays finds from the early Islamic port town of Ayla and the wider Aqaba region, with pottery, coins and carved stone. The museum shares its square with the fort, and the remains of Ayla lie a short walk along the seafront.
