The Kušlat Masjid stands on a high green cliff above the canyon of the river Drinjača, west of Zvornik, on the site of a medieval fortified town. Evliya Çelebi recorded that it was built in the reign of Sultan Mehmed II al-Fatih, which would make it one of the oldest mosques in Bosnia. The mosque was burned in 1993 and later rebuilt on the same site with traditional materials. It is reached by a long climb up steps and a forest path, and the wide views over the hills and river valley have earned it the name of the mosque in the sky.
