The turbe of Halil Pasha stands beside an old Muslim graveyard on the main road between the Hiseti quarter and Gornji Šeher in Banja Luka. Local tradition remembers Halil Pasha as a native of the Lijevče plain near the city who rose to high office in the Ottoman state and served as governor of Bosnia, and many stories are told of his kindness and honesty. The turbe and its graveyard are a protected monument. It is a quiet stop on the way from the city centre to Gornji Šeher, the oldest Ottoman quarter of Banja Luka, and visitors come here to recite al-Fatiha.
