About Arnaudija Masjid, Banja Luka

The Arnaudija was built in 1595 by Hasan Defterdar, the treasurer of the Bosnian province. It was one of the finest mosques of Banja Luka and a national monument. It was blown up on the night of 7 May 1993, within minutes of the Ferhadija about 800 metres away. Reconstruction began in 2017, using the original stones where they could be recovered, and the mosque reopened in May 2024 with its single dome and minaret restored.
