The Umari Mosque in old Daraa is one of the oldest mosques of the Hawran. Its name links it with the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab, when the region came under Muslim rule, and it was built in the dark basalt stone of the area with a courtyard and a square minaret. The mosque has been rebuilt by the people of Daraa in recent years. It remains the best-known mosque of the city.
