About Camel Kneeling Site of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ (Mabrak Mosque)

Masjid Mabrak al-Naqah, the Mosque of the Kneeling Camel, stands in the old town of Busra. Local tradition holds that it marks the place where the camel of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ knelt when he came to Busra as a young man on the trading journeys to Syria, while another tradition connects it with the camel carrying one of the copies of the Qur'an sent out by Uthman. The mosque dates from the twelfth century, and the madrasa beside it, founded in 1136, is counted among the earliest madrasas in Syria. It is usually visited together with the Mosque of Umar and the other sites of Busra.
