Ramla

Bab al-Lud is the gate of al-Ludd where the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said Nabi Isa (AS), son of Sayyidah Maryam, will kill al-Dajjal. Its Arabic name, باب اللد, means “the Gate of al-Ludd.” The marked location lies in al-Ludd, close to Ramla on Palestine’s central coastal plain. Al-Ludd was an established city before nearby Ramla was founded as the administrative centre of Filastin in the early eighth century. The death of al-Dajjal Islamic tradition places Bab al-Lud within the events preceding the Last Day. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that al-Dajjal, the false messiah whose trial will spread across the earth, will be pursued by Nabi Isa (AS) after his descent near Damascus. A longer narration in Sahih Muslim describes Nabi Isa (AS) searching for al-Dajjal until he catches him at the gate of al-Ludd and kills him there. The place is therefore remembered through a specific prophecy of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, linking this Palestinian city to one of the defining events in the Islamic account of the end times.
