This shrine in al-Fao is the grave of Sayyid Qarib, one of the local Sayyids honoured by the people of the town. Al-Fao is Iraq's southernmost town, at the tip of the peninsula where the Shatt al-Arab meets the Gulf, about 90 km south-east of Basra. The grave of Sayyid Ali al-Zaki is at al-Ma'amir, about 9 km back along the road towards Basra.
