Idlib Museum is the regional museum of Idlib, best known for its collection of cuneiform tablets from Ebla, the Bronze Age kingdom whose archives were found by an Italian mission at Tell Mardikh near Saraqib. Through their administrative and literary texts, the tablets tell the story of a kingdom that flourished in northern Syria in the third millennium BC. The museum also holds finds from the many ancient sites of the governorate, including the Dead Cities of Jabal al-Zawiya. It stands on Mihrab Square in the centre of Idlib and is the natural companion to a visit to Ebla itself.
