The Arba'in Mosque, the Mosque of the Forty, stands in the west of old Homs near the Government House. Its minaret is built on top of a round tower of the old city wall, the only one of the wall's towers still standing. The mosque contains the shrine of one of the Abdal, the saints of local tradition, and in its present form it dates back to the Middle Ages. It is one of the most interesting historic mosques of the city.
