Matbouli House is one of the oldest houses in Historic Jeddah, said to be more than four centuries old, and belonged to a family of spice merchants. It stands near Souq al-Alawi and has been opened by the family as a private museum. Inside are carved wall niches of manqabi coral stone, ebony furniture and an old well beside the living room, with household objects laid out across its floors. There is a small entry fee, and it opens in the evenings.
