Masjid al-Mi'mar was built in 1847 by Mustafa Mu'ammar Pasha, then governor of Jeddah, and renovated twenty years later. It stands on al-Alawi Street near Nasseef Square, raised above the street with a staircase on its eastern side. Its wooden ceilings and lamps recall the older design of Masjid al-Nabawi, and it keeps its green wooden dome and an old wooden platform from which the call was once relayed behind the imam. The mosque was restored and reopened in 2018, preserving the original building, and is in daily use.
