About Masjid al-Ijabah

Masjid al-Ijabah is one of the old mosques of Makkah, standing in al-Mu'abadah, the district once known as al-Abtah or al-Muhassab, on the road between Masjid al-Haram and Mina. Makkan accounts date a mosque on this site to before 3 AH and report that Nabi Muhammad ﷺ prayed here. It shares its name with the better-known Masjid al-Ijabah in Madinah. The building was renovated many times, and two foundation inscriptions on its qibla wall carry the dates 898 AH and 1124 AH. It was rebuilt entirely in 1422 AH (2001), when its facade was faced with coloured marble and a dome and minaret were added. It stands at the start of al-Ijabah Street beside the King Abdulaziz Mosque, a short drive from the Haram.
