Al-Saqqaf Palace, also known as the Palace of King Abdulaziz in al-Mu'abadah, was built in 1346 AH (1927) of mud and stone, taking in an earlier palace of the al-Saqqaf family that was bought and enlarged. King Abdulaziz used it as his seat of government and royal court in Makkah, receiving notables and state guests here. It remained in use under King Saud and King Faisal, and later housed the Muslim World League, the Makkah police and part of the Ministry of Finance. The palace covers about 2,500 square metres and its façades carry Islamic ornament and inscriptions. It stands in al-Mu'abadah on the road towards Mina.
