Dhee Ayn is a stone village built on a white outcrop in the al-Mikhwah area below al-Bahah, with its oldest houses thought to date back several centuries. It takes its name from the spring that flows past it, feeding banana and palm groves below the houses. Around fifty houses of one to four storeys, with thick walls of polished stone, climb the outcrop to the top. A visitor centre explains the village's history; entry and parking are free, and early morning or late afternoon is best in the heat.
