Ainuna is a small oasis on the Red Sea coast north of Duba, watered by springs and wells that made it a station for pilgrims travelling down the coast from Egypt to Madinah and Makkah. Historians identify the area with Leuke Kome, the port through which the Nabataeans traded on the Red Sea. The old wells lie in the valley of Ainuna among palm trees and the remains of earlier settlement. It is one of the sites of the Egyptian Hajj Road, which Saudi Arabia has placed on UNESCO's Tentative List.
