The Pool of the Arches, known in Arabic as Bir al-Anaziya, is an underground reservoir in Ramla completed in 789, in the reign of the Abbasid caliph Harun al-Rashid. It stored water for the town and is one of the best-preserved buildings of the early Abbasid period in the region. Steps lead down to a vaulted chamber whose pointed arches rest on piers standing in the water, and visitors can row small boats between them. It lies in the centre of Ramla, a short walk from the White Masjid and the Great Omari Masjid.
