The Katib al-Wilaya Masjid, whose name means the secretary of the province, is a small mosque in the Zaytun Quarter of Gaza's old city. Its minaret was built by the Mamluks in 1432, and in the 1580s Ahmad Bey, an official of Ottoman Gaza, extended the mosque on its western side. The mosque was built against the wall of the Church of Saint Porphyrius, and its minaret beside the church has long been a symbol of Muslims and Christians living together in Gaza. It lies on Omar al-Mukhtar Street, a short walk from the Great Omari Masjid.
