The Akbari Mahal Kutub Khana and Archives is a public library and archive set up in conserved rooms of the Haveli of Kharak Singh and the Akbari Mahal in the Lahore Fort. Its collection was found in 2023 in old storerooms of the fort and includes some fifteen thousand archival files and several thousand photographic negatives and glass plates. The holdings range from land and revenue records and early census reports to archaeological survey reports, regional histories, historic maps and photographs, and are being digitised in stages. The vaulted rooms are open to readers and researchers and also host talks.
