This shrine on the high point of Bayt Ras, north of Irbid, is honoured as a maqam of al-Khidr, the righteous servant remembered for his meeting with Nabi Musa. It is one of the prophets' shrines cared for by Jordan's Royal Committee for the shrines. Bayt Ras stands on the site of ancient Capitolias, one of the towns of the Decapolis, and the shrine looks out over the farmland of northern Irbid. It is a short drive from the centre of Irbid.
