Makin al-Din al-Asmar, Abdullah ibn Mansur, was the shaykh of the Qur'an reciters of Alexandria, having learned the readings from Abu al-Qasim al-Safrawi. He became a companion of Abu al-Hasan al-Shadhili, stood with him against the Crusaders at Mansura, and later related his shaykh's states to Ibn Ata Allah al-Iskandari, who recorded them in Lata'if al-Minan. He passed away in 692 AH (1293). His tomb, where his sons are also buried, lies within the complex of the Yaqut al-Arshi mosque on Midan al-Masajid in Bahari, a few steps from the Mursi and Busiri mosques.
