Sidi Burhan al-Din Abu al-Ikhlas al-Zarqani (1924–1979) was a Sufi shaykh of the Shadhili way who founded its Ikhlasiyya branch in Alexandria. Born in the Gharbiyya province of the Delta, he settled in the city, where his zawiya in Karmouz grew into a large mosque and centre for his followers. In 2019, when his mosque in Karmouz made way for a new road, his remains and those of his sister were moved to this shrine in Haret al-Sahn, behind the Mursi mosque near Midan al-Masajid. His mawlid is still held here every October.
