The Ćuprijska Masjid stands on the bank of the river Bregava in Stolac, beside the old bridge that gives it its name, ćuprija meaning bridge. It is also known after its founder, Hajji Alija Hadžisalihović. The mosque was destroyed in 1993 and rebuilt, reopening in 2004. With the clear, fast water of the Bregava running past and cypresses along the bank, it is one of the loveliest spots in Stolac, a short walk from the Sultan Selim Masjid, where Friday prayer is held.
