The Podgradska Masjid stands in Podgrad, the old quarter below the fortress of Stolac, in the area known as the Mejdan, right on the banks of the river Bregava. It has been rebuilt and renovated several times over the centuries. It is a small, simple mosque in a beautiful riverside setting, with the water of the Bregava running past. Friday prayer in Stolac is held at the Sultan Selim Masjid nearby, but this mosque is a peaceful place to stop and pray on a walk through the old town.
