Bijambare is a protected landscape on a high plateau about 40 kilometres north of Sarajevo, with meadows, pine forest and a series of limestone caves. The largest, the Main Cave, can be visited with a guide and has a large chamber with fine stalactites and stalagmites known as the Music Hall. Medieval stećak tombstones stand in the meadows, and there are walking trails, picnic areas and a mountain restaurant. It is an easy family day out from the city, and a small electric train runs from the car park towards the caves. Bring a warm layer, as the caves stay cool all year.
