Jami' al-Utrush is one of the finest Mamluk mosques of Aleppo, standing south of the Citadel. It was begun in 801 AH (1398) by the governor of Aleppo, Aqbugha al-Utrush, who passed away before it was finished, and it was completed in 811 AH (1408). It is known for its richly carved stone façade, its great portal with stalactite vaulting and its tall minaret, and it is counted among the masterpieces of Mamluk architecture in Syria.
