About Al-Qayqan Mosque

The Qayqan Mosque, the Mosque of the Crows, stands on a rise near Bab Antakiyah in the west of old Aleppo, an area believed to be the heart of the ancient city. Its walls are built from stones of many periods, including a basalt block carved with an ancient hieroglyphic inscription from the Hittite era. It is one of the oldest places of prayer in Aleppo and has been closed for restoration after war damage.
