About Valley of Mina

Mina is the valley between Makkah and Muzdalifah, about seven kilometres east of Masjid al-Haram, where pilgrims stay during the days of Hajj. On the Farewell Hajj in 10 AH, Nabi Muhammad ﷺ spent the eighth of Dhul Hijjah here before going on to Arafat, and after Muzdalifah he returned to stone the Jamarat, offer his sacrifice, shave his head and spend the days of Tashriq. The valley is also linked with the story of Nabi Ibrahim and his willingness to sacrifice his son. For most of the year it stands empty, but during Hajj it becomes a vast city of white tents housing millions of pilgrims, with the Jamarat complex, Masjid al-Khayf and Masjid al-Bay'ah within it.
