Bab Umm Hani was a gate on the southern side of Masjid al-Haram, named after Sayyida Umm Hani, daughter of Abu Talib, whose house and an old well stood on this side and were taken into the mosque in the enlargement of the Abbasid caliph al-Mahdi. Al-Fasi called it Bab al-Mula'abah, and in the late Ottoman period it was known as the Hamidiyyah Gate after the government house that stood in front of it. It had two doorways and twelve steps. The gate was removed when Masjid al-Haram was enlarged in the twentieth century. Its site lies inside the present mosque, about 85 metres south of the Ka'bah.
