Bab Sharif Ajlan was a gate on the southern side of Masjid al-Haram, named after the madrasa of Sharif Ajlan that stood beside it. Al-Fasi also called it the gate of Banu Taym, and in the Ottoman period it was known as the Takiyya Gate because the Egyptian Takiyya stood in front of it. It had two doors and eleven steps, with verses of the Qur'an inscribed above it. The gate was removed when Masjid al-Haram was enlarged in the twentieth century. Its site lies inside the present mosque, about 85 metres south of the Ka'bah.
