Masjid al-Hisn al-Asfal stands in al-Nasim, Abha, on the old pilgrim road through Asir, and dates from 1760. The Friday prayer was once held here, drawing people from the surrounding villages as well as passing travellers and pilgrims, who could stay in a small guest room called al-Manzilah. It keeps its thatched roof and old inscriptions, including the names of past caretakers, and is still used for the daily prayers. It was restored in the second phase of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques.
