Hadiyyah was a station of the Syrian Hajj road north of Madinah, where a fort guarded the wells and sheltered the caravans. The Hejaz Railway later ran past it, with its own station and a large bridge nearby. The forts of the route stored provisions, including food for the pilgrims' return journey, and gave shelter to the poor, to lost travellers and to those separated from their caravans. The remains of the fort stand in the valley of Hadiyyah, about 150 km north of Madinah. It is one of the sites of the Syrian Hajj Road, which Saudi Arabia has placed on UNESCO's Tentative List.
