About Grave of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas

Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas was the son of Sayyiduna al-Abbas and a cousin of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ. He was still a young boy when the Prophet ﷺ passed away, yet he had stayed close to him, and the Prophet ﷺ prayed that he be given deep understanding of the religion. He grew into the foremost scholar of the Qur'an among the Companions, known as Tarjuman al-Qur'an, the Interpreter of the Qur'an, and as Hibr al-Ummah, the great scholar of the Ummah. In his last years he lived in Taif, where he lost his sight, and he passed away there in 68 AH. He was buried beside the mosque that now bears his name in the centre of Taif. The mosque is one of the main places of prayer in the city, and the area of his grave is set apart beside it.
