Bab Quba was one of the gates of Ottoman Madinah, on the south-western side of the city, from which the road led south to Quba. Madinah was enclosed by walls from the third century AH, and they were rebuilt many times, by Sultan Suleyman in 939-946 AH among others, with an outer wall added later to take in the suburbs to the south and west. The gate is marked on the Ottoman General Staff map of Madinah drawn in 1880. The walls and their gates were taken down in the twentieth century as the city grew. The site of Bab Quba lies about 700 metres south-west of Masjid al-Nabawi.
