Close to Masjid al-Ghamamah stands the small mosque named after Umar ibn al-Khattab. It marks the place where, according to tradition, Umar led the Eid prayer during his caliphate, keeping to the prayer ground used by Nabi Muhammad ﷺ. The present stone building dates largely from the Ottoman period, when the mosques of this old musalla were rebuilt, and it has been restored in recent years. It is usually seen together with the neighbouring mosques of al-Ghamamah, Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Ali, all a short walk from Masjid al-Nabawi.
