This exhibition, run by the agency that oversees Masjid al-Nabawi, traces how the mosque grew from the simple building of palm trunks and mud bricks raised by Nabi Muhammad ﷺ into the vast complex of today. Models, drawings, rare photographs and artefacts follow each expansion through the Umayyad, Mamluk, Ottoman and Saudi periods. Other galleries look at the minbar, mihrab, domes, minarets and doors of the mosque, and there is a small cinema. Entry is free, information is given in Arabic and English with audio guides in other languages, and a visit takes around half an hour. The exhibition is beside Masjid al-Nabawi.
