The Great Masjid of Beersheba was built in 1906, when the Ottomans founded the town as an administrative centre for the Bedouin tribes of the Naqab, and it served as the town's main mosque. The mosque has a domed prayer hall and a tall minaret in the Ottoman style, set in a garden in the old city of Beersheba. It is no longer used for prayer, and in later years it has served as a museum.
