The Quaid-e-Azam Library occupies Montgomery Hall, a white neo-classical building completed in 1866 in Bagh-e-Jinnah, the former Lawrence Gardens. The hall was used for receptions and public events in colonial Lahore and was turned into a library in 1984. The library holds a large collection of books and periodicals, including works on Islam and Urdu literature, and its reading halls are among the quietest places to study in the city. Membership is needed for regular use, and the building is set among the lawns and old trees of the garden.
