Kom al-Dikka is an archaeological park in the heart of the city where excavations since 1960 have uncovered a quarter of Roman and late antique Alexandria. Its centrepiece is a small Roman theatre with tiers of white marble seats, the only one of its kind found in Egypt. Around it are the remains of Roman baths, houses with mosaic floors and a row of lecture halls from the late Roman city. An open-air display shows statues and columns raised from the harbour. The site lies near Raml Station, the Nabi Daniyal Mosque and the Sayed Darwish Theatre.
