Sayyiduna Luqman al-Hakim is the sage after whom the thirty-first sura of the Qur'an is named, remembered for the counsel he gave his son. Alexandrian tradition honours one of the two tombs in the crypt of the Nabi Daniyal Mosque as his, and he lies in the same chamber as Sayyiduna Daniyal. The crypt is reached by a flight of steps below the prayer hall. The mosque stands on Nabi Daniyal Street in the centre of the city, near Kom al-Dikka and the Attarin Mosque.
