About Greco-Roman Museum

The Greco-Roman Museum was founded in 1892 and moved into its present neoclassical building in 1895. It holds the finest collection of objects from Ptolemaic and Roman Alexandria, including statues, mosaics, coins, pottery and portraits. The museum reopened in 2023 after a long restoration. It stands on al-Mathaf Street in the city centre, a short walk from the Sayed Darwish Theatre and Kom al-Dikka.
