Ishshah Palace is one of the mud-brick palaces built in Tarim in the early twentieth century by the al-Kaf family, wealthy Hadrami merchants with ties to South-East Asia. The palace mixes Hadrami building traditions with decoration influenced by colonial architecture in Asia, with painted facades, balconies and coloured glass windows. It is open to visitors as a museum.
