This mosque in Tarim is associated with Sayyid Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr al-Aydarus, known as al-Aydarus al-Akbar (811–865 AH), one of the great masters of the Ba-Alawi tradition and forefather of the al-Aydarus family. He is buried in Zanbal Cemetery. The old mosque is a whitewashed building with arcades around a courtyard and a distinctive square minaret, set among the mud-brick houses of the old town.
