About Al-Saqqaf Mosque

This mosque in Tarim was founded by Sayyid Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad al-Saqqaf (739–819 AH), one of the greatest Ba-Alawi masters, after whom many Hadrami sayyid families are named. It has kept a long tradition of teaching and gatherings of remembrance. The mosque is a whitewashed building in the old town, close to the Ba-Alawi Mosque and Ribat Tarim, and large gatherings are held in it and in the open space outside during the visitation season.
