About Ba-Alawi Mosque (Tarim)

The Ba-Alawi Mosque is one of the oldest and most important mosques of Tarim, closely linked to Sayyid Muhammad ibn Ali, al-Faqih al-Muqaddam, and the generations of Ba-Alawi scholars who taught and prayed here. It is also known as Masjid al-Qawm. The mosque is a whitewashed building with a simple minaret, set among the mud-brick houses of the old town. Lessons and gatherings are still held inside, and it lies close to the al-Saqqaf and al-Aydarus mosques and Ribat Tarim.
