The Nabi Jirjis mosque in the old city of Mosul contained a tomb honoured as that of Nabi Jirjis, whom Muslim tradition remembers as a prophet sent to the king of Mosul. The mosque was rebuilt in the late fourteenth century and renovated many times after. The site lies in the old city near the river, close to the shrine of Imam Awn al-Din.
