Fath ibn Sa'id al-Mawsili was one of the early ascetics of Mosul in the third Islamic century, a contemporary of Bishr al-Hafi and known for his weeping, his fear of Allah and his long nights of prayer. The biographers record that he passed away in 220 AH. His shrine, known locally as the shrine of Shaykh Fathi, stands in the western part of old Mosul.
