This shrine in Hit is honoured as the grave of Shaykh Ali al-Hiti, whose name means Ali of Hit. The best-known shaykh of that name, Ali ibn al-Hiti, was one of the Sufi masters of Iraq in the sixth Islamic century and a contemporary of Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani. The shrine stands in the old town of Hit, not far from the grave of Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak.
