Hama Museum is the city's archaeological museum, with collections covering the long history of Hama and the sites of its region. Among them are finds from the Danish excavations of the 1930s on the citadel mound, which uncovered layers of settlement going back thousands of years. The museum is a good introduction to the city before visiting the norias, the citadel park and al-Azem Palace.
