Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, one of the seven great jurists of Madinah, dug this well in Wadi al-Aqiq beside his estate, and its water was praised by the early writers for its sweetness. It became one of the best-known wells of al-Aqiq. The site lies in the al-Aqiq valley west of Madinah, about 180 metres from the Palace of Urwah ibn al-Zubayr.
